Picanol optimistic on the Future Growth Prospects of the Indian Textile Industry

In an exclusive interview, Kasiviswanathan, Member of the Board at Picanol India, shared insights into the company’s successful participation at ITMA 2023, the growth prospects of the Indian textile industry, and the longstanding partnership with the Indian market.

Picanol, renowned for its weaving solutions, showcased an extensive range of looms at ITMA 2023 in Milan. With the largest stall in the weaving segment, the company received significant increase of visitors from the previous edition in 2019. Notably, Picanol witnessed a strong presence of Indian customers, including both corporate and non-corporate entities, from different regions across the country. Prominent textile companies like Trident Group, Vardhman Textiles Ltd Ludhiana, Nitin Spinners Ltd, Bhilwara, and Arvind Ltd Ahmedabad were among the key customers who visited Picanol to witness the latest innovations and novelties. Discussing the future growth of the Indian textile industry, Kasiviswanathan expressed optimism, highlighting India’s position as the fastest-growing economy globally. Despite the existing challenges, the country’s stable government policies and the expected incentives, including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, are anticipated to drive increased investments in the sector.

Picanol firmly believes in the potential of the Indian weaving market and aims to support its growth. The company recognizes the importance of digitalization and sustainability in the industry’s transformation journey and aims to make a significant impact with its new rapier loom, Ultimax, aligning with these principles. Picanol’s airjet loom, OmniPlus i Connect, is already recognized as the fastest running loom in the international market, offering exceptional performance with the lowest energy consumption—an essential factor as energy costs continue to rise.

With a personal history spanning over 30 years of contributing to Picanol’s growth story in India, Kasiviswanathan reflects on the company’s successful partnership with the Indian textile industry. Picanol’s presence in India dates back to 1956, and its weaving technologies have been embraced by numerous corporations across the country.

Over these years, Picanol has introduced 22 different models of airjet and rapier looms, catering to various fabric segments such as bottom wear, denim, shirting, suiting, linen, poplin, sheeting, terry towel, furnishing fabric, and viscose fabric. Picanol’s dedicated sales and service organization in India, established in 2008, has played a crucial role in building strong customer relationships and providing reliable support as well. Looking ahead, Kasiviswanathan envisions a promising future for Picanol in India. The company’s focus will continue to be on weaving technological innovation and meeting the needs of customers.

Picanol strives to maintain its position as a frontrunner in the market by offering timely solutions and breakthrough innovations that propel the Indian textile industry forward. As Picanol reaffirms its commitment to the Indian market, the company remains poised to support the growth of the industry and strengthen its partnerships with customers for years to come.
